Steve Jobs just wrote a very interesting piece called "Thoughts on Music." It discusses Apple's opinion of DRM and of the music industry.

Many people say he only wrote that piece to lay blame for DRM on the record companies since alot of the European countries are calling him and Appple a monopoly on the music front.

I kind of agree since it wasn't until France and other countries started making noise about DRM that he suddenly comes out as not liking DRM \:p

Question for all you music fans. I have several old 45 records with songs from the 60 -70 era. I want to put them on my IPOD via itunes purchases. I'm finding they , Itunes dont have many of the songs I request. Is there another music store that you know of that deals with this record era? Help!

Your best bet would be probably to mark down the ones you really like and check somewhere online like amazon for the cd equivalent versions of the albums and then rip the music from the cds.

That way you have a cd back up and you can rip the music to a higher quality \:\)

If you don't want to do that, you could record the records to wav files and then convert the wavs to mp3 \:\)

Cheap as possible would be to download winamp and stream ripper and record streaming versions of the music you have on records but they would not be as good as cd rips \:\)

If you have a working turntable you can record straight to the hard drive, then convert to mp3. I've done that with Audacity.

They could be worth something. Have you tried e-Bay?
