I'm planning on making a new website soon, and I'm planning on putting a message board on it. I use phpBB on my Dale Jr site, and it's okay. But I'm thinking about trying a different software for the new site. Maybe Invision or something.

I wanted to get your opinion. What's your favorite message board software? Not necessarily software that you've installed and configured. But when you go to message boards ... what do your favorite ones use? I'm talking about features, ease of use ... that kind of stuff.

I really like UBB Threads, but don't have the money to pay for it. I'm looking more for the free or open source message boards. I definitely want to be able to customize it so it fits into my website.

Basically, I'm just looking for opinions. I may or may not listen to what you have to say ... But seriously ... I'd like to know. Maybe there's some message board software out there that I don't know about that would be perfect for me to use.

www.lockergnome.com uses Invision. I've seen it mentioned the most as being one of the better forums that will run well on a server.

I like Invision. A forum I went to (it's gone now ) used it, and I liked it.

Pirillo is pretty serious about having the best of anything so I doubt if you'd go wrong with Invision. I'm sure he did his homework before going with it.

Obviously giving new members a stick of dynamite may not be the best welcoming gift.
