If anyone here plays the game Everquest, in the latest issue of PC Gamer is 2 codes for everquest players - one code is for a shield and one is a possible chance to be a player in the upcoming everquest 2 beta test. The reason I say this is if anyone wants my code for the everquest 2 invite please say so and I will send it to you via PM - first come first serve basis. The code may or may not be a winner as only 10,000 of the codes they printed are valid but I hate to see it go to waste. I already promised the shield to a friend or I would give that a way too As I don't play online games.

I never agreed with games that make you PAY to PLAY after you've already bought the game. Games like Unreal and Quake have proven that you can play online without having to pay. Sorry but I'm not paying a monthly freakin subscription to play a game I already paid $50 for. That's f'ng stupid!

I bought my fiance Need For Speed: Motor City without realizing that it was an online ONLY game. It didn't even say that on the packaging ANYWHERE. I only found out when installing the game and it asked me for my credit card number and asked me to agree to the TOS. I didn't agree and cancled the installation.
Then I tried to take it back to KMart and they tried to give me a hassel with returning it. I said, "Look, it says in the TOS that if I dont agree with it to cancle the installation and return the software. That is what I am doing. This game, like most new games, can only be played with the actual game disc in the drive, not a copy. So I couldn't even play this game if I wanted to. And I don't! It doesn't say anywhere on here that this is strictly an online game and that an additional subscription fee would apply. So give me my damned money back." They did but told me I wouldn't be able to return any other games. I said, "Have you had me return other games here before? Was it that big of a problem in the past? No. That being the case, cut the chatter and make with giving me my money back."

Yep, you really got to read the fine print Usally what they say when they don't come out and say it's an online game is they will say internet required or some crap like that as most regular games will say internet required for multiplay mode meaning you can play it in single mode as well. Kmart is super funny about returning software. Usally they only will exchange it for the same game you got before. At least that is the policy here.

Cool! I died, so I had to leave (plus I had some other stuff to do in real life). I'll keep my eyes open for you two Do you have to wait till the next day before you can play again? I didn't get a chance to finish reading the FAQ. Vicki

Sorry for getting you all addicted to the game As for when the games next day starts, I think it is 12 midnight EST if I rememeber right Also when you die, you can also go torment souls in the graveyard to gain points to impress the god of the dead, i forget his name, and you can use those points to get healed after tormenting sould, or for 100 points he will be impressed and restore you to life. I did not know the above until my friend told me about this trick Just in case your new and missed it

Also when I used to go to that website, before you log in, it would tell you how many hours before the new day would start as well Not sure if it still does that though as it has been a while since I played it
Looks like it still does that as right above the green dragon graphic it says -
Welcome to Legend of the Green Dragon, a browser based role playing game, based on Seth Able's Legend of the Red Dragon.
The current time in Degolburg is 4:26 pm.
Next new game day in: 3h, 46m, 46s (real time)
The newest resident of the realm is: Farmboy Xaos
The most recent hero of the realm is: Sir Tim
Enter your name and password to enter the realm.
The time next to where it says (Real Time) is how much time needs to elapse before the new day starts
In the above it is 3h, 46m, 46s (real time)

The discussion about "pay to play" is really old, but I have to get a word in there to clear some things up. First off, comparing quake/unreal tournament to an MMORPG is like comparing apples to oranges. They're both games, and they both have online capabilities, but the major difference between them is that quake/unreal's servers are hosted by the users. They're not hosted by the company who made the game. With MMORPG's (EverQuest, Star Wars Galaxies, World of Warcraft, etc) the company who made the game hosts the servers, and the servers have to be able to have about 3,000 or more people on at any given time. Generally, games like EverQuest have multiple servers per server... like, you see one server on the server list, but it actually has the content ("zones") of that one server divided onto multiple servers. Combine the initial cost of the servers with the continuing cost of an OC* internet connection, and after a while (EverQuest has been going for what, 5 years now?) the money from the initial game purchases runs out, leading to no profit whatsoever from the game. This is where the subscriptions and expansion packs come in. Of course, if you don't want to pay a monthly fee you could always just play on an emulated server. Emulated servers are servers like Quake/Unreal Tournament, where users volunteer to host the game. I'm pretty sure the game companies are against this, but with all of the seriously skilled coders out there they can't really avoid it if someone wants it to be done. You can generally play on these emulated servers completely free, but you won't get the same experience as you would on the company's own servers. (For example, a server emulator for EQ is "EQEmu," found at http://www.eqemulator.net/main.php)I hope this clears things up a bit. Oh, and Trallyus, when you sent me a PM on Leoville with this offer some months back, I tried to respond to tell you I quit EQ but you had PM's turned off.

For those that play Everquest or those that do not play it due to subscriptions and the such, you may be interested in taking a look at a new everquest type game I found called "Rubies of Eventide" More info about the game is at http://www.cyberwar.com/ , You can find a link to download the 383 mb program there as well. From what I can tell , the game is free as well as playing the game on their server is free as well. They do ask for donations if you like the game though . I have not tryed it due to being on dial up , but it looked good to me . Here is a screenshot of the game http://juliahowe.com/roepic.jpg
