is UBB.threads version 6.5. It went final the last week or so, and after I'm sure there won't be any immediate bug fix releases, we will upgrade.

Some new hacks/mods for the board that I am planning to have installed:

Game Arcade that keeps scores of members. (Games Arcade Deluxe v1.8)
Raidersoft chat mod.
Integrated links page updateable by all.
User memo.
Alt body preview in index pages.
Graemlin order.
Quote user name.
Force quick reply to user name, not tacked on to last reply.
Quick reply mod to keep it the same setup as in 6.4.
Merge Threads 2.1
Old Post Jump Method 1.0
PM Quote Original Message 1.4
Enhanced Instant UBB Code 1.01
Admin Edit Password

There's many others out there too. Hacks for 6.5 can be found here:

http://www.threadsdev.com/forum/modindex.php/version/6.5/modtype/0/Words/0/sort/recent

If anything jumps out as interesting, let me know. These will be in addition to the mods we have right now:

- Popup Graemlin modification
- Inline Images
- IIP (Entrance Page - updated version)
- PMs via Email
- CSS Display
- Quick Reply
- Online User Info
- Spellchecker
- RSS feed

This is going to be last version of UBB.threads. It is being EOL'd by Infopop and will be replaced, along with UBB.classic, by a new un-named product next year. There is a very good chance that this will be the final software version for this board. So, I want to make this one count.

Thanks.

A board that I am very impressed with, is The Shroomery.

www.shroomery.com

A large active board that has many good mods to consider. Worth the time to check out and compare.

Colleen probably has some other boards to list with other mods available also.

What exactly is "Game Arcade that keeps scores of members." mod? And how does it work?

I can help with this one. There is an arcade section, I think it has games like poker, frogger and battleship, and you can play and record your score, then someone else can play and record their score. The scores are displayed, remember like we used to in an old-fashioned arcade? Anyway, it's fun, I know of one on another board. I think only the members can play the arcade if they are members. I was hoping for an arcade here soon, Thanks Harold.

Another Mod I would suggest is PayPal, I know Harold wants to keep this a fun/free place, but once in a while a few bucks wouldn't be the worst thing to donate to show our appreciation.

That's ok, it can be hooked up to a checking account. But, I didn't mean everyone at the same time, just a few people at a time. We all have times that we are more liquid than other times. So, when we can we can donate, but certainly not when we can't. Speaking of which, anyone know when Shouse will be back? I'm going to contact him this week via mail. If anyone wants me to write anything to him, PM or e-mail me your thoughts.

Login to Threadsdev and click "Game Arcade" at the top. It's only viewable to logged in users.

I don't think I'll ever be taking donations as this is a hobby that I think is worth the effort. I'd be more willing to offer a little more for any money a member would want to send in. That would be website hosting at $5.00 or $5.50 each month. If anyone can afford $60.00 each year and wants their own website, this would be the best way to go and get a little more for what you might just donate instead.

I don't ever want my own website, I want to be here always. But, I would love to donate and feel that I have a purpose in this world. But, it's ok, I can donate to the American Cancer Society or to the Susan G. Koman Breast Cancer Research fund in your name.

Any other hacks/mods that anyone would want to see?

We will be sticking with this release for a year or longer.

Is there a way to tell if someone is online without going to the who's online area. Maybe like under their name or somewhere in the Avatar area?

Yes. It's an option. I've seen it on another .threads board. I'll have to see if it's one that is in the list of regular mods at ThreadsDev.

Edited first post and have also been considering a Google search this site on each page.

I can't remember if "Search this site" or the Google ads cause Google to index the site better, or if they both do the same. I'd like to have whatever causes a more thorough search from Google.

My first preference is to not have the ads, although they may help some of us every once in a great while.

Ads that are text only aren't too bad.
